Be Back Next Week/Advice

Okay first of all, I won't be posting again this week due to moving and trying to put together the baby's room, so that it's done when we get to our new place and before baby arrives.  I will be back in force with a theme week on staying motivated.

Until then I need advice (again). When you feel really miserable (physically) and you know you have a project to complete, are you able to make yourself do it?  If you're able to write when your sick, is there anything that helps you do it? I really need/want to finish my WIP but I've been sick about half the week consistently for months. It seems like I'm not going to feel well again until after the baby is born, so I'm looking for ways to work around this. And anything you've found that helps would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Beth

  1. Beth, I had a terrible cold the other weekend so I curled up with my laptop and just wrote in bed. I alternated between writing and reading and it was a huge comfort. Now having a cold isn't the same as being pregnant, so I know it's not on the same level, but it might work for you too. I hope you feel better.

  2. When I don't feel well, I do a lot of plotting so that when I am up to typing, I know exactly what to write.

I hope you feel better soon!

  3. I agree with the other comments. You can write freehand in bed, between naps or whatever. Do some of the work you (or I) typically avoid, such as charcter sketches, outlining, rough freewrites. I don't know how many months along you are, but I felt better after the 4th or 5th month. More energy, less yuckiness. Crackers help! Always have some crackers at hand.

  4. Yes, when I'm feeling poorly, I usually can't concentrate enough to write, but jotting down notes keeps the story in my mind. Reading through what I've written helps me keep in touch too. It's been a long time since I had babies, so I've forgotten how it was. :) Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Hope you feel better soon!

I'd also agree with the other commenters. Planning things out can help get things done and keep the story fresh in the mind.

  6. Morning sickness is the worst! I'd say just make the best of the time when you are feeling good, and use the not feeling good times to plot. :) Best of luck on getting feeling better! And on the move and putting together the baby's room. How exciting!
