The Big Dreams Bloghop & Hiatus

The Big Dreams blogfest is hosted by Misha Gericke and me. On the last Friday of the month we celebrate our progress or lack thereof. This month I'm celebrating the lack there of. I was supposed to rewrite Perfect Harmony in the past tense. It didn't happen. I have no idea what else was on my list, but I'm sure it didn't happen. I've only written seventy unusuable pages this whole year, which makes me sad. This time last year, I'd finished two books. But I do have things to celebrate. I found a day job so I'm going back to work next week, which I'm sure means even less writing will happen. I'm having to move again but my husband and I both found jobs which eases a crisis. Because in February we learned his current company would be shutting down this location soon. But because of the move I won't have internet access for a week thus the hiatus.  I'm just happy I got things straightened out for my family right now. I'll have to try to pick up speed with the writing this month. And I actually feel like I need a break. Yet, I don't want to quit writing. I'm not sure what kind of break to take. I just know my one attempt at writing fiction this year failed miserably.

  1. Interesting that someone would advise you to write a story in only past tense. Yes, I've seen it work, but damn near all the ""expert"" sites I see say to keep it in the now. Very, very strange advice. Maybe get a second opinion from a peer of whoever told you to do it? Maybe the universe or whatever made you pause for a reason??

Best of luck in April no matter what.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's job and the necessity of moving again, but at least you have a job now. We all go through dry spells in writing, or times when we feel like quitting. I believe that if you take a break for a while, recharge your batteries, you'll be back on track soon. Good luck with the move and the new job! :)

  3. Congrats on finding the job! I have a full time job so I know how it is to try and fit writing in around that. :)

I hope your move goes okay! Do you have to move far?

  4. Wow, you've got a lot going on right now. I'm sure the writing will pick up when everything is more settled. Good luck with the new job and remember the year 2014 is only 1/4 of the way through.

  5. So glad things are going well! Best of luck with the move. Lots of people write and work, so you can still make it happen. :-)

  6. Never quit. Just adapt the dream. I remember carrying a notebook in my purse and writing when I waited to be "next" at the doc's office. Congrats on the new job and the easing of stress.
