I'd like to know from other indie authors how does this work best? How many ARCs do you usually give away? Should you not give away too many? Is there a good number? How do you organize a blog tour? What works best? (It should be said I don't want to launch a huge marketing campaign just create a little bit of buzz. I'm more interested in writing than marketing).
this question has a very long-winded answer. I'm happy to share my thoughts if you want to send me an e-mail. jessieharrell at me.com
ReplyDeleteI don't know if anyone knows what works best, but I can tell you what I've done and learned since Indie publishing last November.
I'd set up a tour that has a combination of reviews, interviews, guest posts, and features. That way you aren't giving away too many ARCs, just enough to get the word out there. Also, make sure that those doing reviews post to Goodreads, Amazon, B&N, etc. I'd check out blogs that you love (and that have good followings) and contact them to help get the word out.

ReplyDeleteFind Bloghops happening around the time of your release and join them as soon as they open. You'll have readers stopping by your site and seeing your new book and only give away an ARC or two. Otherwise, find a blogger willing to organize a tour for you.
ReplyDeleteDitto to what Kelly said pretty much!
ReplyDeleteSorry,I haven't pubbed or marketed anything. But I wish you the best of luck! :-)
