Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate -- Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?
I wouldn't really read a book I thought I was going to hate. It would be a waste of time. I've picked up books I felt luke warm about. Sometimes I loved them, sometimes I hated them. And I've picked up books I thought I would love and been severely disappointed.
Great answer!

Hopping over.
DeleteIn the past, I often read books I thought I'd hate (and ended up doing that often, too) because there was just this ONE thing I really needed to read more about. It's actually really awful, but these days, I'm more like you. There's not enough time to spend it reading books that I won't like. *g

DeleteI always tell myself I won't do it either, but then I cave if most of my Goodreads friends have liked it. I've met some awesome, some mediocre and some REALLY BAD books that way. But I can't help it, I have an optimistic spirit! LOL :O New follower on Twitter, GFC and Networked Blogs.

DeleteI absolutely feel the same. In my cultural background, we don't use the word "hate" as easily as Americans do. It's a strong emotion and usually has a history. I like your answer! I consider it a waste of time, too, especially when I have to fight my hatred in order to even start the book!

Hi!

See, I'm always willing to step out of my comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteI figure, I might learn something new about both myself as a reader as well as about literary genres as well. Plus, if someone I really respect the opinion of recommends it to me, I'll read it (or at least try). :)
Really though, for the most part, you're right... especially if it's something you've already tried. I'm always hoping for that Diamond in the Ruff though XD
